Stripping diapers with Calgon

Calgon is used to soften water used to wash your diapers in areas with severely hard water. We don’t really have hard water, but I've used Calgon to strip my diapers recently because last time I stripped them was September last year! Stripping cloth diapers

I didn't really have any problems with the diapers; I just wanted to “freshen” them up a bit.

What I did was use warm water on already clean diapers. I separated the shells from the inserts so I could use hot water on the inserts and warm water on the shells (I was afraid of damaging the PUL or TPU with hot water) make sure the diapers (shells and inserts) are clean before stripping.

The box said to add 125ml of powder into the wash (mine was 7kilos). I let it wash for 20mins then rinse with warm water. I rinsed about 3 times I think but after the first warm rinse, I used cold water with the succeeding rinses.

Make sure it’s a sunny day before stripping because the sunshine greatly helps in making your freshly stripped diapers fresher, whiter and fluffier.

If you don’t have hard water, don’t use this too often, once a month is good enough. Also, make sure to rinse, rinse, rinse!

Some moms have tried RLR Laundry Treatment for stripping and I've heard good things about this product as well.
